A prominent political group in Ogun State, the Yayi Progressives Movement, has praised President Bola Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun for endorsing Senator Solomon Adeola as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections.
The convener of the group, Armstrong Akintunde, gave a commendation in a statement issued to journalists through the State Director of Media & Publicity, Oluseun Joshua.
Akintunde called Senator Adeola’s adoption well-deserved, highlighting his long history of commitment to progressive politics and his efforts in developing his senatorial district.
He stated that the selection of Senator Adeola as the consensus candidate demonstrates the strong support and confidence in him within the APC in Ogun State.
The convener also commended President Tinubu for his supportive role, as well as Governor Abiodun for backing Adeola as a successor ahead of the 2027 elections.
Akintunde said, “The choice of our leader as the APC consensus governorship candidate in Ogun State is expected, given his impressive service record, especially in Ogun West Senatorial District.
“I am grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, our party leader, for backing Ogun West’s bid to produce the next governor.
“Since Ogun West has not produced a governor since the state’s creation, this move promotes fairness and inclusiveness. I also applaud Governor Dapo Abiodun for making this possible during his term,” he stated.
Akintunde added that this development signals ongoing progressive governance in Ogun State, similar to the “Lagos model” of consistent progress and transformation.
He urged residents to support Adeola’s candidacy in the upcoming election.
“We call on all responsible residents of Ogun State to come out in large numbers and support Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, in the 2027 governorship election.
“Ogun State is on the cusp of even greater growth. While past and current administrations have made commendable efforts, the next stage of development depends on Senator Adeola,” Akintunde stated.
He also thanked party leaders, supporters, and stakeholders within and outside Ogun State for their ongoing support and prayed for continued party growth in the state.
