Zamfara State government has sponsored a mass wedding for 100 couples from vulnerable groups in 14 local government areas in the state, organised by the Hisbah Commission.
At the event, the state governor, Dauda Lawal, represented by his deputy, Mani Malam Mumini (Masamar Mudi), reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens.
Governor Lawal, who also served as the representative of the grooms, stated that the government provided a dowry payment of N200,000 for each groom, and each bride received N50,000 to support small-scale trading activities in their matrimonial homes.
The governor also presented marriage certificates and household items to the couples. He urged them to respect one another and advised the brides to be obedient to their husbands, emphasising the importance of fostering harmony and attracting Allah’s blessings in their marriages.
In his remarks, the chairman of the State Hisbah Commission, Sheikh Umar Hassan Gusau, commended the government for constructing permanent office facilities for the commission in the state capital and across the 14 local government areas.
Also speaking at the event, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff at the Government House, and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs jointly donated N5 million to the couples in honour of the deputy governor, Mani Malam Mumini Masamar Mudi.
The occasion was attended by the Emir of Zamfara, represented by the Emir of Kaura Namoda as the bride’s representative, as well as Sheikh Ahmed Umar Kanoma and other dignitaries.
