The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has hailed the emergence of Senator Tony Nwoye as Senate Minority Whip, describing the development as a testament to both his credibility and the party’s rising prominence.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said Nwoye’s appointment signals the ADC’s preparedness to contribute more actively to strengthening Nigeria’s democracy.

Abdullahi noted that the milestone also positions the party as a credible alternative for Nigerians as the 2027 general elections approach.

He characterized Nwoye’s emergence as well deserved, citing his consistency, courage, and dedication to democratic principles.

According to him, the appointment reflects not only Nwoye’s personal competence but also the growing trust in the ADC as a viable platform for constructive opposition and national renewal.

“This is coming at a time when Nigeria’s democracy requires strengthening, vigilance and a clear voice for accountability,” he said.

“Nwoye’s emergence as Senate Minority Whip underscores the readiness of the ADC to take on a more decisive role in promoting legislative responsibility.”

Abdullahi added that the development demonstrates the party’s readiness not just to participate in elections but to lead, offering Nigerians an alternative grounded in integrity, competence, and service.

He expressed confidence that Nwoye would approach his new role with diligence and fairness, contributing positively to the work of the National Assembly.
