Accord Is Not For Sale, Says Party Stakeholders In Lagos

Stakeholders of Accord Party in Lagos State have dismissed claims of a political alignment with President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the party remains independent and is not up for external control.

They also reaffirmed their loyalty to the party’s former presidential candidate, Prof. Christopher Imumolen, as the substantive National Chairman.

Recall that the party has been locked in a tussle between Christopher Imumolen and Maxwell Mgbudem camps.

However, a statement by the Lagos stakeholders, signed by Comrade Moses Jaguars, accused certain individuals of spreading misleading narratives and attempting to undermine its structure for political gain.

“The attention of the stakeholders of Accord Party Lagos has been drawn to the misleading and self-serving statements credited to Maxwell Mgbudem, purporting to deny any collaboration between Accord and President Bola Tinubu,” the statement read.

“Let it be stated clearly and without ambiguity: Nigerians are not fools.”

The party pointed to what it described as publicly available evidence contradicting such denials.

“The same individuals now issuing denials are fully aware of the visible and well-documented evidence: billboards across Osun State and repeated public engagements where Governor Ademola Adeleke openly aligned with President Tinubu. These are facts in the public domain that cannot be erased by hurried press briefings.”

According to the Lagos chapter, the denials are part of a broader attempt to conceal alleged political manoeuvring involving members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“This sudden denial is nothing but a desperate attempt to cover up a deeper political conspiracy. Credible information indicates that certain elements within the PDP have planted agents within Accord with the sole aim of hijacking the party’s structure and ticket for their own benefit. These actions are driven by financial inducements and backdoor deals, not ideology or party loyalty.”

The statement also raised concerns over alleged infiltration of the party by individuals linked to rival political platforms.

They added that is more disturbing that known PDP figure is now brazenly operating and opening campaign offices nationwide under the Accord platform.

They said the move was not a coincidence but it a calculated infiltration.

On internal leadership disputes, the party defended the position of Prof. Chris Imumolen, citing ongoing legal proceedings.

“On the issue of leadership, the attempt to dismiss Prof. Chris Imumolen’s mandate is both laughable and legally untenable. There is a valid subsisting court order on this matter. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has already acknowledged the situation and assured compliance pending final determination at the Federal High Court. No amount of propaganda can override the rule of law.”

Reaffirming its stance, the party declared its independence and readiness to resist external interference.

“Let it be known: Accord is not for sale. It is not a dumping ground for political mercenaries or a tool for external manipulation. Those attempting to distort its structure for personal gain will be firmly resisted within the bounds of the law.”

The Lagos chapter also urged vigilance among its members and the public.

“We call on party faithful, stakeholders, and the Nigerian public to remain vigilant. The integrity of Accord must and will be defended.”
