A non governmental organisation, the Youth Empowerment Solutions Project Initiatives (YES Project) has called on young Nigerians to come out en masse to collect their Permanent Voters Cards during the duration stipulated by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) so as to vote during the 2023 general elections.

The Initiative stressed that registered voters and young people can still be disenfranchised if they do not collect their PVCs from INEC and go out to vote.

Executive director, Yes Project, Oche-Precious Edeh who disclosed this yesterday in Abuja during a press conference on PVC Collection and Voters Mobilization Campaign with the theme: “Value Your Vote” said getting registered is the first step in electoral compliance process as stipulated by INEC and the Nigerian Constitution.

To ensure PVCs are collected, Edeh said YES Project will create more awareness on the collection of voter’s cards, and where to pick up the cards.

“We will be covering 20,000 houses in Abuja and Edo state, and a young people targeted social media reach of 10 million spread across the country. Community Townhall Activations Through Community Ambassadors: This is aimed at targeting young people through their cliques and influencers. These town halls will be activated in Edo State. It will be a direct community engagement programme.

“Our survey revealed that young people will appreciate logistic support like transportation to any location where they can pick up their PVCs. A means of transportation to PVCs collection centres was most highlighted as a motivator. We will therefore be providing young people a two weeks bus ride support to INEC offices for PVCs collection,” he said.
