President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has pledged a greater commitment to women’s football as part of plans to elevate the sport to global standards.
Mr. Gusau, who attended the NNL Super Four Draw in Lagos, also commended Toptier Sports Management for its investment in the Nigeria National League, which he noted is now garnering international attention.
Speaking to journalists at the event, the NFF president lauded the structure and visibility that private partnerships have brought to the domestic game.
“I want to use this opportunity to commend Toptier Sports Management for their work in the Nigeria National League. Their investment in the league and their belief in our framework have yielded dividends. Just look at the visibility of the NNL Super Four Draw, the organisation, the media presence, the television coverage, and the prominence they have given the league. It is noteworthy. Credit must go to Mrs. Chichi Nwoko, CEO of Toptier Sports Management, for believing in our structure,” Mr. Gusau stated.
“I also want to use this opportunity to assure you that my team and I will meet with them to discuss how we can promote Nigerian women’s football to the highest level. I’ve had numerous personal discussions with Chichi about women’s football, and her passion for it is outstanding. Our women’s football will never be underestimated. We remain the best in Africa. We have won countless trophies, and that’s why we’ve decided to host a CAF B Female Workshop in Nigeria in a couple of weeks. The workshop will focus on how women’s football in our region can improve.”
“We will continue to support the women’s league and all our leagues.”
“With Toptier Sports Management’s investment, our vision has been validated moving forward,” the WAFU B President concluded.
The event at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, highlighted the new commercial appeal of the NNL, with Toptier Sports Management announcing a ₦10 million prize for the Super Four winners. Mr. Gusau said such investment proves the Federation is on the right track in attracting private capital to develop all tiers of Nigerian football.
