Mercedes-Benz Sue Osimhen Over €90,000 Car Debt

Luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has formally lodged a complaint with the Italian Carabinieri against Nigerian football sensation Victor Osimhen.

The 27-year-old Super Eagles striker stands accused of failing to honor payment agreements for a vehicle he leased back in 2023, with the outstanding amount reportedly reaching €90,000 roughly ₦142 million.

Osimhen, widely regarded as one of the most lethal finishers in world football today, has carved a remarkable path through the European ranks.

His journey has taken him from the pitches of Belgium to the glitz of French Ligue 1, then onward to the historic stadiums of Italy’s Serie A and now the fervent atmosphere of Turkey’s Süper Lig.

Along the way, he has collected silverware and adoration, most notably leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in nearly four decades — a triumph that immortalized him in the hearts of the Neapolitan faithful.

That glorious spell was followed by a high-profile summer move to Galatasaray, where Osimhen’s contract reportedly makes him the highest-earning player in the history of Turkish football. With an annual salary exceeding €20 million, the striker enjoys a lifestyle befitting his elite status.

Yet, according to Italian news outlet Napolista, Mercedes-Benz has now turned to law enforcement over an unresolved vehicle purchase. The company alleges that Osimhen not only failed to complete the buyout of a leased car but also neglected to return the vehicle itself.

The resulting debt of €90,000 is a striking contrast to his weekly earnings — which have consistently surpassed that amount ever since his title-winning heroics in Naples.

As the Carabinieri examine the complaint, the football world watches with curiosity: how does a player of Osimhen’s financial stature find himself entangled in a dispute over a sum that represents barely a fraction of his paycheck? The answer, for now, remains behind closed doors.
