A 60- year-old man, Ajibola Faluyi, has appeared before an Ijoko Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State, for reportedly collecting N50 millions by false pretences.

Faluyi, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of obtaining money by false pretences, conspiracy and breach of peace.

However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Corporal. A.S Atinuke, told the court that the defendant, and others still at large, committed the offences at Ijako-Owode area, Ota.

Atinuke alleged that the defendant and his accomplices fraudulently obtained N50 millions from one developer, Grace Nehemiah, on the pretext of selling a parcel of land to her.

She added that the defendant converted the money to personal use instead of fulfilling the agreement between them.

The prosecutor said that the defendant also conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by intimidating and harassing the personnel and management of Shafkamal Nigeria Limited, and members of the Ogungbayi and Karounwi families.

She said that the offences contravened Sections 86, 419 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Magistrate, Mr A.O. Onagoruwa, granted the defendant N2 million bail and with one surety in like sum.
