Lagos State deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has said for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be re-elected and for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to win the governorship poll, party members must aggressively mobilise with utmost dedication and loyalty.
Hamzat, the party’s consensus governorship candidate in the forthcoming general poll, advised each member to mobilise at least five others and ensure they vote for the party on poll day.
Hamzat said, “It is important that we must come out to vote,” adding that “we must deliver Nigeria to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu next year.”
The deputy governor spoke at the ‘Special Congregational Prayer for President Tinubu’ organised by the Renewed Hope Network at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
Hamzat, who thanked the congregation, observed that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has laid a good foundation in Lagos, adding that “it will be easy to build on it.”
Hailing the President’s endorsement, he said, “Our father must continue the job he is doing to save Nigeria.”
Hamzat, who thanked President Tinubu for providing direction to the country and the first lady for her philanthropic activities, prayed that, by the grace of God, the children of all those who witnessed the event would fulfil their destinies.
The prayer session was officiated by the state Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Stephen Adegbite, and a Muslim cleric, Alhaji Abdulrahman Lawal.
Prayers were offered for President Tinubu, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Hamzat and the peace of Nigeria and Lagos.
At the event, which was attended by members of the Lagos State progressive family, unions, ethnic nationalities, youths, and women’s groups, President Tinubu was endorsed for reelection, and Hamzat was endorsed for governor.
Speakers, including Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Oyinlomo Danmole, leader of the group; House of Representatives member James Faleke, the convener; former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello; and House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, justified Tinubu’s endorsement by highlighting his achievements across sectors.
They also noted that the Lagos APC is in one accord on endorsing Hamzat as Sanwo-Olu’s successor.
Sanwo-Olu, who led the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) members to the podium on behalf of the nonagenarian Prince Oluyole Olusi, said: “On behalf of all the leaders of GAC, we endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Deputy Governor Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat.”
Bello, former Kogi governor, applauded President Tinubu, recalling that he played a role in his ascension to power in the Confluence State and also thanked him for the political opportunities given to Kogites in Lagos, including Faleke.
Bello, a senatorial aspirant in Kogi Central, said: “Mr President, you cannot be tired. Continue to provide LEADERSHIP for the younger generation. You have paid your dues on activism and leadership. You don’t need to come to Kogi for a campaign. We assure you of 100 per cent of our votes.”
