Entrepreneur and philanthropist, Bukunyi Olagbegi, has formally declared his intention to contest the House of Representatives seat for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Olagbegi said his decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders, community leaders, youths and other groups across the constituency.

“The work I have done over the years, whether in business or through community initiatives, has always been centred on our people. This decision is about serving this constituency in a bigger way and ensuring that we address the issues affecting our communities,” he said.

According to him, security remains one of the most pressing challenges facing residents of Owo and Ose local government areas, stressing that no meaningful development can take place without addressing insecurity.

He noted that many farmers and traders now operate under fear due to security threats, forcing several residents to limit movement and economic activities.

“No agenda on jobs, youth development or agriculture can succeed without first addressing insecurity. We must strengthen coordination between community institutions and state security structures so that people can move, farm and trade without fear,” he stated.

The APC aspirant said his agenda would focus on creating employment opportunities for young people, supporting farmers with access to inputs and markets, and building stronger youth engagement platforms across the constituency.

He added that improving security would provide the foundation for broader economic and social development within the federal constituency.
