The All Progressives Congress (APC) has conducted its House of Representatives primaries across Rivers State in a peaceful atmosphere.

LEADERSHIP observed that a total of 20 aspirants from 10 federal constituencies participated in the exercise.

Prominent among the contestants is the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, who is seeking to succeed the Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, in Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency.

The Obio/Akpor primary, which is the constituency of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, was held at Ward One, Eliozu Community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Similarly, the Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency primary was conducted at Ward 10, Elibrada Community in Emohua Local Government Area.

The exercise was monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and APC leaders, including the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

Speaking shortly after the exercise in Elibrada Community, APC chieftain and Director-General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA), Chief Emeka Woke, commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries.

“I want to thank the leadership of the All Progressives Congress at the centre and at the state level for conducting a free and fair primary election.

“As you can see here, there was no quarrel, no rancour and no disagreement. It shows that our leader, the leader of the Renewed Hope family and the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has provided leadership. What we have demonstrated here is just to reciprocate that leadership,” Woke added.
