Thousands of supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from across the 17 local government areas of Yobe State on Thursday last week thronged Damaturu in a massive show of solidarity to welcome Governor Mai Mala Buni and the party’s preferred governorship aspirant, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali following their successful screening in Abuja.

The colourful reception at the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Damaturu, drew party stakeholders, youth groups, women supporters and political loyalists from across the state, underscoring the party’s growing unity and strength ahead of the 2027 elections.

A statement issued by the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed indicated that Buni has while addressing the jubilant crowd, described the massive turnout as a clear indication that Yobe remains the stronghold of the APC.

“Today’s outing is a true indication that Yobe State is the home of APC,” the governor said.

He urged party members and supporters to sustain the spirit of unity and brotherhood that has continued to strengthen the party in the state.

“We remain one united family; we must not allow politics to divide us,” Buni stated.

The governor cautioned supporters against political intolerance, abusive language and divisive tendencies capable of weakening the party’s cohesion.

“We should avoid banter, name-calling and abuse. It is not in our culture and character, and we must not tolerate it,” he added.

Governor Buni commended party faithful for their continued confidence in his administration and the leadership decisions taken by the APC, noting that their support and cooperation had contributed immensely to the successes recorded by the government.

“Your support and cooperation with our administration have produced fruitful results, including this airport,” he said.

He also appreciated party members for embracing the consensus arrangement adopted by the APC in the state, saying their support for the preferred governorship aspirant reflects political maturity and commitment to the unity of the party.

“Your faith in the decisions of the party, which produced the preferred governorship aspirant, is quite encouraging and supportive. Thank you all,” Governor Buni said.

In a related development, Senator Mohammed Ibrahim Bomoi, representing Yobe South Senatorial District and one of the governorship aspirants, reaffirmed his commitment to the unity and consensus position of the APC in the state.

Speaking after a meeting with Governor Buni at the Government House, Damaturu, Senator Bomoi said he had reached an understanding that would preserve the party’s consensus arrangement and strengthen its unity ahead of the 2027 polls.

“APC remains a united and indivisible party. We will remain united and continue to work for the success of the party in line with the consensus arrangement,” Bomoi said.

Responding, Governor Buni commended the senator for his understanding, maturity and commitment to the peace and progress of the party and the state.

He called on other aspirants and party stakeholders to emulate Senator Bomoi by placing the collective interest of the APC above personal ambition.

According to the governor, the unity, understanding and cooperation among party members would further position the APC for greater success in the 2027 general elections.
