A senatorial aspirant for the Taraba Central Senatorial District, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo, has declared that his recent detention would not deter him from contesting for the Senate seat.
Bodejo, who is the president of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Jalingo and later handed over to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Through his media aide, Mallam Umar, the aspirant said he did not buy the party’s expression of interest and nomination forms to step down for anyone.
Umar said Bodejo remains committed to contesting the Taraba Central Senate seat and is preparing to participate in the party primaries scheduled for today across the five local government areas of the senatorial district.
According to him, the aspirant remains optimistic and confident of victory despite being in EFCC custody.
“He is still in the race and remains determined to represent the people of Taraba Central in the National Assembly,” Umar said.
He called on Bodejo’s supporters and delegates across the district to come out in large numbers to vote for him during the primaries.
Malam Umar added that Bodejo had assured the people of the district that he would provide effective representation and attract meaningful development if elected in 2027.
The aide, however, alleged that the EFCC had yet to inform the aspirant of the specific offence for which he was arrested and detained.
