As the 2025–26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season draws to a dramatic close, all eyes turn to the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, where Kun Khalifat FC are preparing for what could be their most decisive match yet.
The Owerri-based side will host Wikki Tourists this weekend in a final-day encounter that carries enormous stakes for the home team.
Kun Khalifat FC must secure a victory in this fixture to preserve their place in Nigeria’s top flight. Anything less could see them slip into relegation, adding immense pressure to an already high-tension showdown.
Club Chairman, Michelle Amaefula, has made no secret of the challenge ahead. In a candid conversation with the club’s media channel, Amaefula acknowledged that Wikki Tourists will not be pushovers.
“I think there will be a lot of fight from Wikki Tourists,” he stated, underscoring the physical and tactical battle he expects on the pitch.
To counter that, Amaefula emphasized that his players are undergoing intensive mental preparation ahead of the game.
“The players will be mentally prepared for the match,” he said, signaling that the team is working just as hard on psychological resilience as on technical execution.
Beyond the squad, the chairman also issued a heartfelt appeal to the club’s supporters. Recognizing the difference a spirited home crowd can make, he called on fans to turn out in large numbers.
“We would like the fans to come out in their numbers to support us. We need that togetherness,” Amaefula added, stressing that unity between the team and its followers could be the extra edge required to survive the drop.
With survival on the line and a determined opponent standing in their way, Kun Khalifat FC are leaving nothing to chance as they gear up for a final-day thriller.
