The Deputy National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, has voluntarily withdrawn from the race for the Nasarawa West senatorial district ticket, as the party released an updated list of senatorial aspirants showing multiple withdrawals, a defection, a screening failure, and the disqualification of 39 contenders across the country in its ongoing primaries.
The ruling APC is conducting senatorial primaries nationwide on Monday ahead of the 2027 general elections, with the latest developments contained in an updated list issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Also affected are Senator Benson Agadaga of Bayelsa East and Bayelsa West aspirant Donald Daunemigita, who both voluntarily withdrew from the race for the party’s senatorial tickets.
The list further showed that Senator Garba Musa Mai-Doki, an aspirant for Kebbi South, defected from the APC, while another aspirant for Jigawa South West, Adam Moutkar Mohammed, failed to appear for screening.
According to the revised list, a total of 39 aspirants have been barred from participating in the ongoing senatorial primaries.
The APC urged stakeholders to uphold transparency, orderliness and internal discipline in the conduct of the exercise as it progresses across the federation.
The updated list, however, excluded some names earlier reported as not cleared, including Senator Ben Murray-Bruce (Bayelsa East) and several Plateau senatorial aspirants.
