Trabzonspor Demand €40m For Super Eagles Star Nwaiwu

Turkish Süper Lig side Trabzonspor have placed a staggering €40 million price tag on Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu.

The 22-year-old, who only arrived from Enyimba in January for €5.5 million, has already attracted concrete offers worth around €20 million, according to Dik Futbol.

Yet the Black Sea Storm have swiftly rejected those bids and are holding out for double that amount.

Should a club meet the €40m valuation, the deal would not only surpass Trabzonspor’s own record exit—goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir’s €27.5m move to Galatasaray last season but also become the highest fee ever received by any Süper Lig club in history.

Nwaiwu’s meteoric rise justifies the bold asking price. Since his mid-season arrival, the versatile defender has cemented himself as a first-team regular, helping Trabzonspor mount a serious title challenge in the second half of the campaign.

His ability to play across both central defensive roles, as well as in defensive midfield, combined with his physical dominance and technical composure, has caught the eye of top European sides.

Bayer Leverkusen and Fulham are both understood to be monitoring his situation closely.

However, Trabzonspor hold a powerful negotiating hand: Nwaiwu has four years remaining on his contract and has shown no desire to force an exit.

That stability allows the Turkish club to reject any offer below their record-demand threshold with confidence.
