Taraba State Police Command has arrested a suspect for allegedly impersonating the aide-de-camp (ADC) to Governor Agbu Kefas and defrauding members of the public under false pretences.

The command in a statement issued by the acting police spokesperson, ASP Victor Mshelizah, in Jalingo, the state capital, said the suspect, identified as Seth Samuel Sule of Magami Quarters in Jalingo metropolis, was apprehended following intelligence reports that some individuals were using the name and office of the governor’s ADC to scam unsuspecting politicians and residents in the state.

The police said the matter was first reported on May 12, 2026, when the ADC to the governor received credible information that fraudsters were impersonating him to extort members of the public.

“Acting on the credible intelligence, security operatives commenced investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the fraudulent activities.

“Following diligent investigation, one Seth Samuel Sule ‘m’ of Magami Quarters, Jalingo LGA, Taraba State, was apprehended in connection with the offence,” the police said.

“The suspect further confessed to defrauding an individual of the sum of ₦1,320,000.00 (One Million, Three Hundred and Twenty Thousand Naira) under the false pretext of assisting the victim to lobby for the APC Federal House of Representatives ticket, which later turned out to be fraudulent.

“Investigation into the matter is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of investigation,” the statement explained.

The Command, in the statement warned members of the public to be cautious of individuals who falsely claim to be government officials or associates of public office holders for fraudulent purposes.
