Cleric Urges Leaders To Drop Tribal Appointments

Apostle Momo Promise, founder of Zion Flames Prophetic and Intercessory Ministries, has called on Nigerian leaders to abandon the practice of tribal-based appointments, insisting that national progress can only be achieved through fairness and merit.

The cleric made the call while speaking on the growing concerns over ethnic bias in governance, warning that such tendencies continue to weaken institutions and deepen distrust among citizens.

He urged both political officeholders and public servants to prioritise competence over sentiment when selecting individuals for key positions.

“Jobs and appointments should be given based on merit and not by tribalism. Both leaders and citizens must work with this blueprint,” Apostle Promise said.

According to him, Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a strength rather than a tool for division, stressing that unity remains the foundation for sustainable development.

“As Nigerians, let us put our differences aside and live together in peace, unity and harmony. This is the first step to a better Nigeria. Nepotism must end,” he added.

The cleric warned that continued reliance on nepotism and sectional considerations in governance would only slow down national growth and limit opportunities for capable citizens.

He called for a collective shift in mindset, urging Nigerians to embrace fairness, competence and character as guiding principles in both public and private sectors.
