Plateau APC Governorship Aspirant Bida Rejects Primary Results

Naval Commander Yilchini Jan Bida (rtd.), an aspirant in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Plateau State, has rejected the outcome of the exercise, describing the process and the declared results as “flawed” and lacking credibility.

Bida, in a statement issued in Jos, expressed strong objection to the declaration of Governor Caleb Mutfwang as winner of the primary allegedly conducted across the state on Thursday.

“Following extensive consultations with his campaign organization, legal team, agents, and key stakeholders across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State, I state clearly and unequivocally rejected in totality the declared results and the flawed process from which they emerged,” he said.

He alleged that the exercise was compromised, describing it as “an orchestrated sham” marked by violations of electoral procedures.

“The entire exercise was an orchestrated sham, characterized by subversion of official process, secret distribution of voting materials, widespread non-event across the state, denial of franchise, pre-fabricated results and exclusion from declaration in flagrant violation of electoral guidelines,” Bida stated.

The retired naval officer, who said he is also a trained forensic accountant, questioned the credibility of the figures released from the exercise, insisting that they showed signs of manipulation.

“As a trained forensic accountant, I must also call urgent attention to the severe lack of integrity in the data and figures being circulated as election results. The announced outcomes show patterns that are excessively uniform, repetitive, and mathematically too perfect to reflect human behavior,” he said.

He further argued that the results did not reflect natural voting behaviour, adding: “However, these figures behave like a single mathematical formula replicated across multiple locations.”

Citing statistical principles, Bida referenced global analytical standards to support his claims of possible manipulation.

“Globally recognized principles of statistical analysis, including Benford’s Law, establish that naturally occurring datasets from broad human participation display irregular but authentic numerical patterns. Where figures appear this artificially balanced and synchronized, it indicates a high probability of manipulation and doctoring that demands independent forensic scrutiny,” he said.

Bida maintained that his position was not driven by personal frustration but by a desire to uphold internal democracy within the party.

“Our stand is not born out of desperation, but out of a profound commitment to the rule of law, internal party democracy, and the rights of APC members in Plateau State. We must not allow the collective will of our people to be subverted by a desperate few,” he said.

He also warned against undermining the credibility of the APC, urging that internal processes must remain transparent and credible.

“I urgently call on the National Working Committee (NWC) and State leadership of our great party to intervene immediately and investigate the widespread irregularities that have compromised the integrity of the Plateau APC primary elections,” he added.

Bida urged his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, stressing that he would pursue lawful channels to challenge the outcome.

He said he is “exploring all lawful, constitutional, and democratic avenues to ensure that justice is served and that the true voice of the Plateau people prevails.”
