Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has announced plans to constitute a reconciliation and peace committee to address grievances arising from the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries in the state.

Kefas made the disclosure while reacting to the outcome of the APC presidential, governorship, National Assembly, and State Assembly primaries. He called on aggrieved members and aspirants to embrace peace and remain committed to the party’s collective interest.

According to the governor, the committee is expected to foster healing, dialogue, and internal cohesion across party structures ahead of future political engagements.

He urged aspirants who did not emerge victorious during the primaries not to lose hope, stressing that political contests often produce varying outcomes and should not be seen as the end of political aspirations.

“As long as there is life, there is hope. Leadership is a journey, not a destination,” Kefas said.

The governor called on party members to close ranks, resolve differences peacefully, and work collectively toward strengthening the APC in Taraba State.

He said unity remained critical for the party’s success, particularly as it prepares for future elections.

Governor Kefas also disclosed plans to establish an APC Campaign and Mobilisation Structure to coordinate grassroots engagement and prepare the party for electoral activities ahead.

He commended party members, stakeholders, women’s groups, youth organisations, security agencies, and electoral officials for ensuring a peaceful and orderly primary election process across the state.

The governor further condemned electoral misconduct, including violence, rigging, thuggery, and intimidation during the exercise, and urged party faithful to uphold democratic principles and peaceful political participation.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to good governance, saying that his focus would remain on security, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and socio-economic transformation.

Dr. Kefas said the party would also intensify direct engagement with citizens through project commissioning, project flag-offs, and listening sessions as part of efforts to strengthen public confidence and promote inclusive governance.

He urged APC supporters to remain united and committed as the party moves toward consolidating its structures and preparing for future political contests.
