American former comedian and actor William Henry Cosby Jr., also known as ‘Bill Cosby’, has lost his bid for a new trial in a sexual assault civil case. The decision comes after a jury ordered him to pay nearly $60 million in damages to his accuser, Donna Motsinger.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, the court ruled that Cosby failed to prove he was denied a fair trial or that the damages awarded were unreasonable.

The judge also found there was enough evidence to support the verdict. Earlier, the jury awarded Motsinger compensation for past and future emotional suffering, as well as $40 million in punitive damages.

Motsinger accused Cosby of giving her a pill she believed was aspirin before she lost consciousness and later woke up partially clothed.

During previous legal proceedings, Cosby admitted obtaining Quaaludes and said he intended to give them to women he hoped to have sex with.
