San Antonio silenced a roaring Oklahoma City crowd and the West’s top seed, earning a 111-103 victory to capture the Western Conference finals 4-3.
For 44 minutes and 20 seconds, the Spurs dictated the pace. They owned the fourth quarter, built a 14-point lead, and left 18,203 stunned fans in their wake. Victor Wembanyama delivered 22 points, Julian Champagnie caught fire with six three-pointers for 20, and De’Aaron Fox ran the show with 15 points and five assists.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander gave it everything: 35 points and nine assists, but when the game tightened, the Thunder ran out of answers.
San Antonio shot 57% and drilled four threes in the opening frame to race ahead 32-25. Wembanyama set the tone with the game’s first bucket and finished 3-for-5 from deep. Champagnie’s early shooting stretched OKC’s defense thin, and even after the Thunder clawed back to trim the halftime deficit to 56-53, the Spurs never lost control.
Free throws couldn’t save OKC. The Thunder went a perfect 11-for-11 from the line in the third quarter and briefly tied the game. But San Antonio responded with poise, then poured it on in the final period. The visitors never trailed in the fourth.
Cason Wallace sparked the Thunder with 17 points (5-of-9 from three), 7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Jaylin Williams notched a gritty double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while Alex Caruso added 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Still, late-game execution belonged to San Antonio. The Spurs now host the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday night.
