As excitement builds for the very first National Intermediate Games, the National Sports Commission (NSC) is set to conduct a thorough inspection of competition venues and engage in crucial consultative meetings in Lagos State from 2nd to 4th June 2026.

This visit, a continuation of the strong collaboration between the NSC and the Lagos State Sports Commission, aims to gauge the readiness for the Games and guarantee that all essential operational elements are firmly in place ahead of the event.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Dr (Mrs) Kehinde Ajayi, Director of Information and Public Relations, the three-day programme will see officials from the National Sports Commission and members of the Main Organising Committee (MOC) scrutinise designated competition venues, auxiliary facilities, athlete accommodation hubs, and other key infrastructure earmarked for the successful staging of the Games.

The delegation will also confer with officials from the Local Organising Committee (LOC) and other stakeholders on technical, logistical, and administrative facets of the competition.

This inspection tour offers a prime opportunity for strategic discussions between the NSC, the Main Organising Committee, and the Lagos State Sports Commission. Talks are expected to centre on venue readiness, athlete well-being, security protocols, transport, medical provisions, and overall event delivery standards.

A courtesy call on the Governor of Lagos State is also scheduled, highlighting the robust partnership between the Federal Government, via the National Sports Commission, and the Lagos State Government in delivering a successful and memorable inaugural National Intermediate Games.

The Commission reaffirms its dedication to ensuring that the National Intermediate Games serve as a crucial springboard for talent identification, athlete progression, and the promotion of grassroots sports nationwide.
