SEMACO founder, Christian Shola, has urged President Bola Tinubu to apologise to Nigerians and take urgent steps to address the country’s worsening insecurity.

Shola said the government must acknowledge the fears and frustrations of citizens who have endured years of violence, displacement and economic strain.

Nigeria’s insecurity crisis has persisted despite successive administrations deploying military force and security reforms. From Boko Haram attacks to bandit raids and kidnappings, the scale and frequency of incidents have stretched security agencies thin.

In his recommendations, Shola called for the dismissal of current service chiefs, stronger international partnerships, and the use of advanced foreign security machinery.

He also suggested adopting a leadership and engagement approach similar to that of Enoch Adeboye, which emphasises grassroots intelligence and trust-building.

Highlighting the emotional toll of insecurity, he urged the First Lady Remi Tinubu to visit affected families as a show of solidarity.

While backing Tinubu’s leadership, Shola argued that unseen political forces may be fuelling instability, calling on Nigerians to remain united and resist divisive narratives.

“The enemies thrive when the people are divided,” he said, stressing that national cohesion is critical to overcoming the crisis.
