The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, has dismissed as false, malicious and baseless any attempt to link him to the kidnapping of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu’s sister and her twin sons.

The media office of the senator, in a statement issued on Sunday in Ibadan, said the publication circulating on social media suggesting his involvement in the abduction was “irresponsible” and “completely devoid of credibility.”

“The attention of the Media Office of Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has been drawn to a malicious and reckless report circulating on social media seeking to falsely connect the distinguished lawmaker to the unfortunate abduction of Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s sister, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, and her twin sons,” the statement said.

It described the allegation as “defamatory, politically motivated and completely devoid of credibility,” insisting that Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the incident or any related criminal activity.

The media team said it was “absurd and illogical” for anyone to attempt to link the senator’s name to kidnapping based on unverified claims allegedly made by a suspect under investigation.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Alli has no connection whatsoever with the said criminal incident, the individuals mentioned, or any activity related to kidnapping or violence,” it stated.

It added that attempts to associate campaign materials or stickers with the incident were part of a “desperate agenda by political detractors” aimed at damaging the senator’s reputation.

The statement further noted that even reports on the matter admitted that no security agency had established any link between Senator Alli and the alleged crime.

According to the media office, it was disturbing that “faceless propagandists” would deliberately weaponise unverified claims to mislead the public and create political tension.

Senator Alli, it said, strongly condemned kidnapping and all forms of criminality, stressing his consistent support for efforts to strengthen security and protect lives and property in Oyo State and across Nigeria.

The statement urged the public to disregard the publication and avoid spreading falsehood capable of undermining security investigations or inflaming political tension.

It also called on security agencies to thoroughly investigate the source of the malicious narrative and bring purveyors of fake news and political blackmail to justice.

“Senator Alli remains focused on his legislative duties, his commitment to the people of Oyo State, and his vision for a safer, more prosperous and united state”, it added
