Old video clips from the archives of Nigerian Televangelist and Founder of Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry (CMDM), Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin, have resurfaced online, triggering widespread debate among netizens as political activities gradually intensified ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The videos, which have gained significant traction across social media platforms including X, Facebook, TikTok and WhatsApp, reportedly contain prophetic declarations cum warnings made years ago concerning political developments, electoral dynamics, and broader national events.

Their re-emergence has divided public opinion, with supporters describing the clips as evidence of spiritual foresight, while critics argue that the interpretations were exaggerated or influenced by hindsight bias.

In one of the resurfaced sermons dated July 6, 2025, Prophet Fufeyin appeared to reference Nigeria’s political landscape and forthcoming elections, speaking extensively about political realignments and emerging political forces.

He said: “I am here to tell you people about the forthcoming presidential election, Spiritual Expo. This is, we have batch by batch, season one prophecy. This is all about Nigeria, the forthcoming presidential election.

Write it down wherever you are watching me.

“But what I am seeing right now, the Lord says, what the Lord has revealed to me in order to prophesy, in order to tell you people, to guide you people, what is about to take place. Right now, I prophesy about the things of APC, how they were decamping to PDP to APC. You have seen the video. That was five years ago.

“I prophesy how PDP decamped with their members to APC. You have seen right now what was going on. It is not yet ended. The defection is still on. Now, what next is this? Right there in the realm of the spirits, I am seeing three groups. The first group is APC. The second group ADC. And the third group, I will not let you know, the third group is observers. I call them spiritual observers.

“Now, in the realm of the spirits, this message is specially for APC people… Don’t look down on ADC. Prepare for your strengths. APC, prepare for your strengths. I am not talking about PDP. I am talking about APC…

“What I saw in the realm of the spirits, the people that they look down on… from nowhere, these people are coming up with full force… The force was so pressing…

“The warning here is this. The leading party, APC, don’t look down on ADC. If you look down, if they look down on ADC, I don’t know what’s going to happen…

“Their prayer they are praying in order for these two… let them begin to fight so that they can now come in…

“I don’t know them. If it’s necessary, when the time comes, for me to tell you about that group, then I will tell you…

“So, this is called update to APC. Don’t underrate ADC… I am measuring a party called ADC… The Lord said I should pass this message to you,” the cleric had said.

As the clips spread rapidly online, Nigerians took opposing positions on the interpretation and credibility of the messages.

One X user, @_Aproko_warri, wrote: “I no first dey believe this man, but taking time and looking into his prophecies you can’t lie, PapaJ dey see vision.”

However, another user, @Alhaji_Tiktok, dismissed the claims, saying: “Ur head no correct, which vision? Person wey dey guess.”

Defending the cleric, @Freda_Omorire countered: “Which one ur Oloshi papa dey see, did you even watch the video without prejudice, this man is literally telling the future with date and events and circumstances and all you can say is this?”

The renewed attention on the archived MercyTV clips underscored the recurring influence of prophetic declarations in Nigeria’s political discourse, particularly during election cycles.

Historically, interest in political prophecies tends to rise ahead of major elections, especially when such statements are later interpreted as aligning with real-world political developments.

However, political analysts caution against over-reliance on prophetic narratives, stressing that electoral outcomes are ultimately determined by democratic processes, voter behaviour, party strategies, and institutional frameworks.

Despite the criticism, supporters maintain that the resurfaced recordings reflect unusual predictive accuracy regarding Nigeria’s political evolution.

Critics, on the other hand, argue that many such interpretations are retrospective, shaped by events that unfold after the statements are made.
