The Adamawa State Government has launched a comprehensive 10-year strategic development roadmap aimed at driving socio-economic transformation, inclusive growth, and long-term sustainability across the state.

The plan, which is designed to guide public planning, budgeting, and investment coordination, is expected to shape development priorities in critical sectors including security, governance, the economy, human capital development, and environmental sustainability, including water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

It also places emphasis on strengthening key sectors such as agriculture, health, nutrition, education, social development, infrastructure, and governance to accelerate broad-based development.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, speaking at the unveiling ceremony, said the roadmap builds on the achievements of the recently concluded Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP 2021–2025), which served as a five-year development framework for the state.

Fintiri, who was represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, described the new strategy as a “people’s plan” and a social contract between government and citizens.

“This 10-year roadmap is more than a policy document; it is a people’s plan, a shared vision, and a social contract between the government and the governed,” she said on behalf of the governor.

She added that the plan reflects the administration’s commitment to reposition Adamawa State from the periphery to the centre of national development discourse, stressing that it represents a practical expression of that ambition.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Awal Tukur, described the document as a collective blueprint for transformation, noting that it was developed through extensive consultations, data-driven analysis and stakeholder engagement across communities in the state.

He urged stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of the plan to translate its objectives into tangible benefits for citizens.

Also speaking, the Executive Chairperson of the State Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Pendiga, commended the administration’s leadership, saying it created the enabling environment for the development and adoption of the long-term strategy.

In his goodwill message, Mr. Elijah Joshua, representative of Oxfam Netherlands, urged the state government to ensure strict alignment with the development plan in order to achieve optimal results and measurable impact.

The plan is expected to serve as a guiding framework for development interventions in Adamawa State over the next decade, with a focus on sustainable growth and improved living standards for residents
