The managing director of Kaduna State Roads Agency (KADRA), Abdullahi Baba Ahmed, has mandated contractors handling ongoing road projects to increase the pace of work before the heavy August downpours

Ahmed made the remarks shortly after visiting Rigasa, Ungwan Romi, PAN Drive, Sokoto Road, Millennium City and Kabala Costain communities, where the Governor Uba Sani-led administration was constructing township roads.

The KADRA boss expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work at several construction sites across Kaduna State.

At Makera Road in Rigasa, the managing director commended the contractor handling the project for the quality job being done.

He expressed confidence that the project would be completed within the next two months, as stipulated in the contract.

On the quality of the work, he said, “We are very satisfied with the quality of the job. As you can see, the drainage and the hydraulic structures are progressing well — this is one of the slabs. They are using precast concrete and have submitted their lab results, which we are okay with.”

He called on the people of Rigasa to bear with the government, stressing that road construction comes with some inconvenience.

According to the state roads agency, Governor Uba Sani has initiated 150 new roads, in addition to those inherited, totalling 1,345 kilometres across the 23 local government areas, noting that many projects have been completed, while others were at various stages of completion.

During the inspection, the Rigasa Project consultant, Usman Muhammed Abdulkadir, said, “The contractor has been adhering to specifications. All impediments relating to property relocation have been cleared, and we are optimistic that the contractor will hand over the project in the next two months.”

The Dakachi of Rigasa Community, Alhaji Abubakar Yahuza, described the project as a major relief to residents, noting that the road serves as a vital link to Mando, Kaduna Airport and other parts of the state.
