The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Directorate of Seaports Operations has partnered with the Chioma Ajunwa Foundation to organise a novelty football match in Lagos as part of activities marking the 2026 United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The event, scheduled for June 25 at the Police College Field, Ikeja, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and illicit trafficking while promoting healthy lifestyles, sports participation, and positive youth engagement.

Kick-off is slated for 3:00 pm, with the NDLEA/WADA Male Team set to face the Olympian Chioma Ajunwa Veterans Female Team in what organisers describe as a symbolic contest designed to reinforce anti-drug advocacy through sport.

The novelty match is expected to attract sports enthusiasts, anti-drug campaigners, government officials and members of the public, all united in the campaign against substance abuse.

Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medallist, Chioma Ajunwa, has long been an advocate of youth empowerment through sport. Organisers said her foundation’s collaboration with the NDLEA highlights the important role sports can play in steering young people away from drugs and other social vices.
