Similarly, National Chairman of ADC, Senator David Mark, and the party’s National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday led the party’s top hierarchy to Ado-Ekiti for the grand finale of campaigns ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

The ADC leaders called on the people of Ekiti State to rise and reclaim their State from what they described as forces that have held it hostage since its creation in 1996.

The party’s governorship candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, was presented to supporters as the man capable of delivering the “government of the people’s dreams.”

Speaking at the rally in Ado-Ekiti, Aregbesola lamented the socio-economic and political challenges confronting the country, accusing the ruling APC of holding Nigeria hostage.

“Your country has been abducted,” Aregbesola declared, alleging that beyond the ransoms paid to bandits and terrorists, Nigerians are also paying the price of poor governance under the APC administration.

According to him, the country’s resources are being deployed in ways that do not serve the interests of ordinary citizens.

He urged Nigerians to reject the ruling party at all levels of elections, insisting that citizens must take responsibility for changing the nation’s trajectory.

Addressing party supporters, Senator Mark said the people of Ekiti deserved a governor who would reflect their aspirations and deliver good governance.

“After so many years, the people of Ekiti deserve the governor of their dreams. Come out en masse and vote for your candidate. I believe that by your votes, we shall return here for the inauguration of the new government that will be elected,” he said.

INEC Deploys Non-Sensitive Materials To 16 LGAs

INEC commenced the movement of non-sensitive materials to be used for the Saturday election to the 16 local government areas of the State.

Addressing reporters in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, the state capital, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State, Dr Bunmi Omoseyindemi, said INEC, the security agencies and others are well prepared for the election.

He said, “We are here to collect the sensitive materials from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) towards the governorship election holding on Saturday in Ekiti state.

“I advise the people of the State to come out en masse to vote for the candidate of their choice on Saturday, and they should conduct it under a peaceful atmosphere. Ekiti State has been peaceful, and we promise them that we will have a free, fair, transparent, and inclusive election.

“Our role is to provide the avenue where they will cast their votes, and this is what we are doing, this is the process.”

Also speaking on the movement and distribution of the non-sensitive materials to the councils, the Police Commissioner for the election, CP Shogunle, said the materials are well secured in the hands of the security agencies.

He said, “The Ekiti state INEC, Resident Electoral Commissioner, is coordinating this process. We also have representatives of political parties, Civil Society Organisations, and the media covering the destruction of sensitive materials. This is to make the process transparent.”
