Veteran Nigerian entertainer and media personality, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has shared his perspectives on maintaining a long-term marriage, stating that successful unions require continuous patience and mutual understanding.
Speaking during a recent interview on Yanga FM, the veteran musician spoke about his 48-year marriage to his wife, Diane Oputa. In his characteristic humorous style, he joked about the routine nature of long-term companionship while emphasising that disagreements are a natural aspect of family life.
“I’ve been married to one woman for 48 years. It is very boring. Imagine eating the same egusi for years; it’s boring now,” he stated
The entertainer further said that managing a household involves handling daily differences constructively, comparing his relationship dynamic to popular cartoon characters.
“All marriages are management, including my own. Me and my wife be like Tom and Jerry. We dey quarrel every day, and we will continue to dey quarrel and settle am,” he added.
