Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has commenced the distribution of five trailer loads of fertiliser and 150 water-pumping machines to his constituents.

Katung represents Kaduna South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

At the flag-off of the exercise on behalf of the lawmaker in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf local government area, the chairman of the Distribution Committee, Christopher Haruna, said the programme was designed to reach a broad spectrum of the population, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, persons with disabilities, widows and other vulnerable groups.

According to him, the initiative formed part of the senator’s continued efforts to support farmers and strengthen food security across the eight local government areas in Kaduna South Senatorial District.

Haruna said 150 water-pumping machines were earmarked for dry-season farming, with seven of the eight councils receiving 14 machines each in the first phase of the exercise.

The committee chairman also appealed to those who were not captured in the first batch to be patient and assured them that additional phases would accommodate them.
