Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has flagged off the reconstruction of the Numan Zonal Library, warning contractors handling the project to adhere strictly to the approved specifications and complete the work within the stipulated timeframe.

The governor stated that his administration would not tolerate delays or substandard execution of projects, emphasizing its commitment to quality service delivery and infrastructural development.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony themed, “Revitalising Knowledge Infrastructure for Educational Development,” Governor Fintiri, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, said the reconstructed library would have a seating capacity of 150 readers and is expected to be completed within six months.

He stressed that the project forms part of his administration’s efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure and promote intellectual development across the state.

The governor reiterated his administration’s determination to ensure that all government projects are completed as promised, assuring residents that the government remains steadfast in fulfilling its obligations to the people of Adamawa State.

According to him, the revitalisation of the library is critical to promoting a reading culture and will provide an environment that supports traditional and modern learning, research, and intellectual growth.

In their remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Aisha Umar, and the Chairman of the Adamawa State Library Board, Dr. Akiweta Samaila, expressed confidence that the reconstructed facility would help revive the declining reading culture among young people and enhance teaching, learning, and research activities.

Other speakers at the event commended the Fintiri administration for its sustained transformation of the education sector, noting that the reconstruction of the Numan Zonal Library would further strengthen educational development and contribute significantly to the intellectual advancement of residents of the Numan zone and beyond.

Adamawa Govt Intensifies Project Monitoring, Farauta Inspects Key Facilities in Lamurde

The Adamawa State Government has reiterated its commitment to effective monitoring and supervision of ongoing projects across the state, stressing that quality infrastructure remains critical to the social and economic development of the state.

In line with this commitment, the Deputy Governor of Adamawa State, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, on Tuesday embarked on an inspection tour of key government projects and facilities in Lamurde Local Government Area.

The Deputy Governor first visited the site of the ongoing construction of the Science and Technical Boys Mega Boarding Secondary School, where she assessed the level of work and expressed concern over the pace of construction and the condition of some facilities.

Professor Farauta charged the contractors handling the project to live up to government expectations, warning that the administration would not tolerate negligence or lack of commitment in the execution of projects awarded to contractors.

She emphasized the Fintiri administration’s determination to ensure that all projects are executed according to approved specifications and completed within the stipulated timeframe.

Responding, the project consultant, Mr. Sam Alara, assured the Deputy Governor that the contractors were committed to addressing the identified shortcomings and would develop a recovery plan to accelerate the pace of work. He, however, identified insecurity as a major challenge affecting the progress of the project.

As part of the inspection tour, Professor Farauta also visited the Lamurde Cottage Hospital, where she inspected facilities and assessed the quality of healthcare services being provided at the institution.
