The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on Saturday, graced the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who was married to Jeremiah Ayodele, spotlighting the unifying power of the marriage institution and how it can be leveraged to transform the state into an economic powerhouse.

Senator Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the wedding ceremony, said the union, which brings together the North and the South, symbolised that what binds Nigerians together far outweighs whatever seeks to divide the nation.

“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” he said at the wedding reception held at Lang Field, Barkin Ladi Road, Jos.

The Vice President noted that while Plateau faces challenges, they were not insurmountable, especially with the right calibre of leadership.

He expressed delight at the presence of stakeholders, describing them as the movers and shakers of Plateau politics.

The Vice President called on the people of Plateau, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribal identities or sectional backgrounds to unite.

“We can transform Plateau into an economic powerhouse,” Vice President Shettima said, adding that though the beautiful city faces challenges that threaten to make it a depressed economy, stakeholders in Jos have the capacity to change the narrative and add value.

The Vice President urged the people to unite and live together as brothers.

For his part, Governor Muftwang expressed delight at the presence of the Vice President and conveyed his appreciation for the goodwill of President Tinubu.
