The Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, on Saturday, graced the wedding reception of Nanbam Mutfwang, daughter of Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, who was married to Jeremiah Ayodele, spotlighting the unifying power of the marriage institution and how it can be leveraged to transform the state into an economic powerhouse.

Senator Shettima, who represented President Bola Tinubu at the wedding ceremony, said the union, which brings together the North and the South, symbolised that what binds Nigerians together far outweighs whatever seeks to divide the nation.

“We need to build bridges; we need to embrace one another. Challenges bring forth the character of leaders,” he said at the wedding reception held at Lang Field, Barkin Ladi Road, Jos.

The Vice President noted that while Plateau faces challenges, they were not insurmountable, especially with the right calibre of leadership.

He expressed delight at the presence of stakeholders, describing them as the movers and shakers of Plateau politics.

The Vice President called on the people of Plateau, irrespective of their political affiliations, religious persuasions, tribal identities or sectional backgrounds to unite.

“We can transform Plateau into an economic powerhouse,” Vice President Shettima said, adding that though the beautiful city faces challenges that threaten to make it a depressed economy, stakeholders in Jos have the capacity to change the narrative and add value.

The Vice President urged the people to unite and live together as brothers.

For his part, Governor Muftwang expressed delight at the presence of the Vice President and conveyed his appreciation for the goodwill of President Tinubu.

He also thanked the Federal Government for its sustained progressive reforms in enhancing security in the state and the country at large, saying “we must continue to forge ahead with hope.”

Dignitaries at the event included the Governors of Borno and Kaduna States, Babagana Umara Zulum and Uba Sani, respectively; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro; the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Idris Wase; the Director-General (DG) of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Professor Ayo Omotayo; among other top stakeholders at the federal and state levels.

Meanwhile, Vice President Shettima was earlier in Kaduna State where he attended the wedding fatiha of Salihu Bello (Sudais) and Amina Abubakar Abdullahi (Walidah).
