The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to establish 10 additional police stations across Ogbomosoland and restore the Police College in the area to full operation as part of efforts to strengthen security.

Oba Ghandi made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the IGP at the Police Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday in company of his High Chiefs and aides: Prof. Shola Adepoju, the Asiwaju of Ogbomosoland; Sir Olusegun Adekunle, the Ashipa of Ogbomosoland; Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi, the Okanlomo of Ogbomosoland; Lt. Col. Oyemade Oyewumi, and Rev. Niyi Adebayo.

In a post on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday morning, the Ogbomoso monarch said the delegation was warmly received and he commended the Inspector-General of Police for his openness and willingness to engage on issues affecting the peace, security and future of Ogbomosoland.

According to him, discussions centred on strengthening security across the area, stressing that sustainable development cannot be achieved without a safe and secure environment.

The Soun said he specifically requested the establishment of 10 new police stations in strategic locations across Ogbomosoland, with adequate personnel and equipment to improve security coverage and emergency response.

He also urged the Inspector-General to ensure the Police College in Ogbomoso becomes fully functional again, noting that the institution would enhance police training, boost the local economy and reinforce Ogbomoso’s role in national security development.

“During our discussions, I emphasized that no meaningful development can take place without security. Security is the foundation upon which every prosperous society is built, and as a people, we are depending on the Nigeria Police Force to continue playing its vital role in safeguarding our communities. I also requested the establishment of ten additional police stations across strategic locations in Ogbomosoland, together with the adequate staffing and equipping of these stations to strengthen security coverage and improve response times.

“I also appealed for the Police College in Ogbomoso to be made fully functional once again. Such an institution will not only strengthen police capacity but also contribute significantly to the growth of our local economy and reinforce Ogbomoso’s strategic importance in national security development. I assured the Inspector-General that the people of Ogbomosoland are willing and ready to partner with the Nigeria Police Force. Our community stands prepared to support initiatives that will enhance policing, improve intelligence gathering, strengthen community policing, and build a safer environment for everyone.

“A major aspect of our engagement is the painful situation of our people who are still in captivity. We passionately appealed for every available resource and effort to be deployed towards securing their safe and speedy rescue. Every life is precious, and no family should have to endure the pain and uncertainty of waiting endlessly for their loved ones. We remain hopeful and steadfast in our prayers and support for the security agencies as they work tirelessly to bring them home safely,” Oba Ghanadi said.

The Soun of Ogbomosoland assured the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) of the community’s readiness to partner with security agencies through initiatives that promote intelligence gathering, community policing and improved public safety.

He expressed optimism following the Inspector-General’s assurances, saying stronger collaboration between the police, traditional institutions, community leaders, government and residents would help address security challenges in the area.

The Soun further urged residents of Ogbomosoland to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information, and continue praying for lasting peace, security and development in the community.
