Wife Arrested for Allegedly Slitting Husband’s Throat

A domestic dispute in Katsina metropolis took a shocking turn when a 23-year-old housewife allegedly attacked her husband with a knife while he was asleep, leaving him with a deep cut to the neck.

The victim, identified as Jamilu Ibrahim, survived the attack and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital, while his wife, Sadiya Lawal, has been arrested by the Katsina State Police Command.

The incident was disclosed in a statement issued  by the police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.

According to the police, Ibrahim reported at the Central Market Police Division at about 9:00 a.m. that his wife allegedly attacked him around 5:30 a.m. while he was asleep, attempting to slit his throat with a sharp knife.

Police said the husband sustained a deep cut to his neck and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors are treating him. He is said to be responding to treatment.

Following the report, detectives ooooo9 the scene, arrested the suspect, and recovered the knife believed to have been used in the attack.

The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue and is expected to be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.

In a separate operation, the Katsina State Police Command also foiled a bandit attack along the Kadisau–Sheme Road in Dandume local government area.

Police said a combined team of officers from the Violent Crimes Response Unit and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps engaged the armed bandits in a gun battle after receiving a distress call.

The bandits reportedly fled under pressure, abandoning two motorcycles and a machete, which were recovered by the security operatives. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Umar Fage, commended the officers for their swift response in Dandume and urged residents to resolve domestic disputes peacefully rather than resorting to violence.

He also appealed to members of the public to continue providing credible information to support the fight against crime across the state.
