A delegation from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, NGF, led by Prof. Banjo Olufunmilayo, has paid a strategic advocacy and consultation visit to Benue state Ministries of Agriculture, Communications and Digital Economy, and the finance in Makurdi, as part of the ongoing efforts to advance the domestication and implementation of the Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) across Nigeria and Benue.

In a statement issued by the Information Officer, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Joy Akoh, said the delegation was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Martha Edor, who underscored the collaborative commitment of government institutions towards promoting women’s economic inclusion and empowerment.

According to the statement, “The visit focused on discussions surrounding the domestication of Women’s Economic Empowerment policy, which is anchored on five strategic pillars: Agriculture, Education, Entrepreneurship, Labour Market Participation and Skills Acquisition. These pillars are further strengthened by four cross-cutting accelerators: Financial Inclusion, Good Governance, Digital Access, and Support Systems”

Speaking during the visit, NGF’s team leader, Professor Banjo Olufunmilayo, commended the Benue state ministries for their commitment to advancing the Women’s Economic Empowerment agenda, emphasising the importance of sustained inter-ministerial collaboration in ensuring the successful domestication and implementation of the policy across Nigeria, particularly in Benue State.
