To safeguard lives and maintain order, the Senate of the Federal University of Wukari (FUW) has banned on all forms of students’ sign-out celebration on campus and its environs.

The decision was reached at the institution’s 76th Regular Senate Meeting on May 26, 2026, and announced by the vice chancellor and chairman of Senate, Prof. Benjamin Ate Kefas.

He said the measure followed the consideration of a report by a management committee set up to review activities associated with the recent students’ sign-out ceremonies.

In a press statement signed by the acting director of the Directorate of Information and Protocol, Agya Ashu, the vice chancellor said the ban was to strengthen security, ensure the safety of members of the university community and preserve a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning.

“The directive prohibits all activities linked to sign-out celebrations, including signing on T-shirts and other materials, processions, dancing, group movements and convoys within and outside the campus.

“It also outlaws gatherings and parties around the university gates and along the Katsina-Ala – Jalingo Highway, spraying of money and any activity capable of causing traffic congestion, public disorder or posing a threat to lives and property.”

The university, therefore directed its security personnel to enforce the directive strictly, warning that students found violating the ban will face disciplinary action in accordance with the institution’s regulations.
