At least 650 residents of Kaura Namoda in Zamfara State have benefitted from from a free medical outreach organised by the 1 Brigade of the Nigerian Army.

The programme, held yesterday at the Emir’s Palace in Kaura Namoda, was part of activities to mark the 2026 Nigerian Army Day Celebration and the Army’s 163rd anniversary.

The commander of the 1 Brigade, Brig-Gen. Mustapha Jimoh, said the outreach was part of the Army’s non-kinetic approach to strengthening civil-military relations.

He said the initiative aligned with the command philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Waheed Shuaibu, which emphasised professionalism, operational excellence and constructive engagement with civilians to promote lasting peace and security.

Gen. Jimoh urged the residents to make full use of the medical services and appealed to the community to continue to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to help combat insecurity.

A member of the 1 Brigade Medical Team, Lt. J.S. Idoko, said the outreach focused on treating common, uncomplicated health conditions.

He said the beneficiaries received treatment for hypertension, malaria, diabetes, arthritis and ulcers, as well as prescribed medications, including antibiotics and pain relief drugs.
