Trabzonspor have submitted an official loan proposal to Wolverhampton Wanderers for Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare, becoming the first club to make a concrete move for the Nigerian striker.
The Turkish Super Lig side have been tracking the 24-year-old for several weeks and view him as a potential replacement for fellow Nigeria international Paul Onuachu, should the striker depart this summer. However, negotiations face obstacles as Arokodare remains under a long-term contract at Molineux.
According to Turkish journalist Zeki Uzundurukan, Arokodare has attracted significant interest since Wolves’ relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, ending an eight-year stay in England’s top flight.
Wolves are rebuilding under new coach Cesar Peixoto, who replaced Rob Edwards, and have already signed experienced players including Kieran Trippier and Raul Jimenez as they target an immediate return.
The Nigerian joined Wolves from Belgian side Genk in summer 2025 on a four-year deal with an option for an additional year, but endured a difficult first season, making 33 Premier League appearances with only 13 starts.
Trabzonspor face competition from Turkish rivals Besiktas and Fenerbahce, with Besiktas reportedly having a €15m verbal offer rejected and seeking help from former Nigeria international Daniel Amokachi and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi to persuade Arokodare to move to Turkey.
Wolves are understood to prefer a permanent sale to recoup much of the £24m they paid for Arokodare, though his valuation has made a full transfer difficult, leaving a loan move as the more realistic option.
With three years remaining on his contract, Wolves are under no pressure to accept Trabzonspor’s proposal, and the coming weeks are expected to be crucial as the Turkish clubs continue their pursuit.
