England captain Harry Kane has described his 18-month-old golf outing with US President Donald Trump as a “surreal” experience, as he prepares to lead his side into a World Cup quarter-final clash with Norway.
The Bayern Munich striker revealed that Trump, 80, extended the invitation during Kane’s visit to Palm Beach, Florida.
“When the president invites you somewhere… it was pretty surreal just to meet him and play,” Kane said, adding that Trump’s golf game impressed him: “I hope I can play as good as him when I’m his age.”
Trump, who recently praised Kane as a “great player” and “really great” golfer after England’s last-16 win over Mexico, shared the course with the striker ahead of the US-co-hosted 2026 World Cup.
Kane, who has six goals and an assist in the tournament, will lead the Three Lions in Miami on Saturday as they seek a semifinal berth.
