Deputy Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Hon. Philip Agbese, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies for the successful rescue of teachers and pupils abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the operation as a major boost to Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Sunday, the Labour Party lawmaker said the rescue demonstrated the growing effectiveness of the country’s security architecture and reflected the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property.

Agbese congratulated President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Olufemi Oluyede, the service chiefs, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security agencies for what he described as an outstanding display of professionalism, intelligence gathering and inter-agency collaboration.

According to him, the successful operation has renewed public confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions and sent a strong message that terrorists, kidnappers and other criminal groups would not be allowed to dictate the country’s security narrative.

“The rescue of every pupil and teacher abducted in Oriire is more than the successful conclusion of a security operation. It is a clear demonstration that the administration of President Bola Tinubu, working with our security agencies, has the capacity and determination to confront criminality and protect innocent Nigerians,” Agbese said.

He noted that the rescue adds to a string of recent military successes recorded across different theatres of operation, including the neutralisation of terrorists, rescue of kidnapped victims and recovery of arms and ammunition.

The lawmaker cited recent operations under Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara and Katsina states, where troops reportedly foiled coordinated terrorist attacks, neutralised a notorious terrorist commander, recovered weapons and prevented hundreds of armed terrorists from attacking vulnerable communities.

“These are not isolated achievements. They reflect sustained operational momentum and a military that has continued to take the fight to terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across the country,” he stated.

Agbese said the consistency of recent successes should reassure Nigerians that the nation’s security agencies remain committed to restoring peace and safeguarding communities nationwide.

He described the current security operations as evidence of improved intelligence-driven strategies and stronger collaboration among the armed forces and other security agencies.

The lawmaker urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence that would assist ongoing operations against criminal elements.

He also appealed to communities across the country to remain vigilant and work closely with security agencies to sustain the gains already recorded.

Agbese expressed confidence that with continued political support, improved intelligence capabilities and sustained collaboration among security agencies, Nigeria would achieve even greater progress in the fight against terrorism, banditry and kidnapping while restoring lasting peace and stability across the federation.
