The Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Police Command has arraigned two children of an Abuja-based businessman, Adimike Godwin, alongside another suspect before the FCT High Court over the alleged murder of the businessman in Guzape, Abuja.

The defendants, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, were on Monday arraigned before the FCT High Court 13 on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.

The court ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for further proceedings.

In a statement issued on Monday, the police public relations officer of the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh said the deceased, Adimike Godwin, was found with multiple stab wounds in his Guzape residence on May 15, 2026, after a relative alerted the police when repeated attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful.

Police detectives who responded to the distress call rushed the victim to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.

The police said the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the killing, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including two of the deceased’s children, his driver and gateman.

Following the conclusion of investigations, the police charged Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade to court, while the remaining suspects were not included in the charges filed.

According to the charge, the three defendants are jointly accused of conspiring to kill and causing the death of Adimike Godwin.

The prosecution also filed separate charges under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act. Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was separately charged with allegedly entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with the same offence.

SP Adeh further said the Command remained committed to ensuring justice for victims of crime while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons throughout the judicial process.

The case is expected to resume on September 30, 2026.
