The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four suspects for allegedly assaulting and publicly humiliating a resident captured in a viral video after he was accused of making a fake transfer to a Point of Sale (POS) operator.

The victim, identified as Boluwaji Temidayo, was allegedly attacked by a group of youths who accused him of carrying out a fraudulent bank transfer. In the viral video, he was seen being physically assaulted and forced to dance with a POS machine placed on his head.

Condemning the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ondo State Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, said the victim reported the matter at the Okuta Elerinla Police Station on Thursday.

According to the police spokesman, the complainant told officers that he was “assaulted by a group of persons who physically attacked him, recorded the incident without his consent and subsequently uploaded the video on various social media platforms.”

Jimoh said the victim stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

He disclosed that following the complaint, police operatives immediately launched a discreet investigation using digital intelligence and forensic resources to identify those involved.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, police operatives immediately commenced a discreet and technology-driven forensic investigation into the viral video, deploying digital intelligence and other investigative resources to identify those involved in the alleged assault and unlawful dissemination of the footage.

“The investigation led to the identification and subsequent arrest of four suspects believed to have participated in the incident, played active roles in the recording and circulation of the video,” the statement added.

The arrested suspects were identified as Gbemisola Ariyo, Babatunde Eniola, Adams Tobiloba and Fasusi Bunmi.

The police condemned the act of jungle justice and reiterated that members of the public should always report suspected criminal activities to law enforcement agencies rather than resort to self-help or public humiliation.
