A Magistrate Court in Kwanar Dangora in Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, has sentenced a woman, Maimuna Ibrahim, to four months imprisonment for attacking her co-wife with hot water.

The court, presided over by Judge Muhammad Alhaji Isa, found Maimuna guilty after reviewing evidence presented during the trial, including medical reports and records of the victim’s treatment expenses.

The incident stemmed from a dispute between Maimuna and her co-wife, Zainabu. During the altercation, Maimuna allegedly poured boiling water on Zainabu, leaving her with serious burn injuries.

In its ruling, the court also ordered the convict to pay ₦840,000 in compensation to the victim to cover medical-related costs and damages.

Judge Isa further ruled that if Maimuna fails to pay the compensation, she will serve an additional two years in prison.

Following the judgment, the convict was remanded in custody and handed over to correctional service officials to commence her jail term.

Speaking after the ruling, Maimuna’s lawyer, Ibrahim Salihu Faki, said the defence would appeal the judgment, expressing dissatisfaction with the court’s decision.
