ASSBIFI–NSITF Unit Elects New Leaders

Association of Senior Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions (ASSBIFI), Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) Unit, has elected new executives to fill vacant leadership positions.
The members expressed optimism that the new team will strengthen workers’ representation and staff welfare.

The election, conducted in a peaceful and transparent manner, produced five new officials who will oversee the affairs of the union and advance its mandate within the NSITF.

Mr Ibrahim Mukhtar Danmusa, an electrical and electronics engineer, emerged as president, while Mr Etalong Emmanuel Etalong was elected vice president.

In a key outcome of the exercise, Dr Umar Mohammed Mijinyawa was elected secretary-general.
The union members described his emergence as a significant step toward strengthening the union’s administrative efficiency, communication and strategic leadership, citing his professional experience and commitment to institutional development.

Also elected were Mr Okobi Phillip as assistant secretary-general and Mr Solomon Bamidele Araeomi as auditor II.

Speaking after the election, members congratulated the newly elected officials and urged them to provide transparent, inclusive and accountable leadership while protecting the interests of ASSBIFI members within the NSITF.

They expressed confidence that the new executives would foster stronger engagement with management, promote industrial harmony, safeguard workers’ rights and champion initiatives aimed at improving staff welfare and professional development.

Members also noted that the successful conduct of the election reflected ASSBIFI’s commitment to democratic principles, internal unity and responsible union leadership.

They expressed optimism that the new leadership would consolidate existing achievements, address emerging challenges and strengthen the union’s role within the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund.

The newly elected executives are Ibrahim Mukhtar Danmusa (President), Etalong Emmanuel Etalong (Vice President), Dr Umar Mohammed Mijinyawa (Secretary General), Okobi Phillip (Assistant Secretary General) and Solomon Bamidele Araeomi (Auditor II).

The election marks the beginning of a new leadership cycle for the ASSBIFI–NSITF Unit, with members expressing hope that the executives will uphold integrity, unity, innovation and service in advancing the welfare of the workforce.
