The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has declared that operations on the eastern corridor of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) and the Eastern Gas Network have been running largely without interruption for the past one month.

NNPC’s head of Field Operations, Eastern Corridor, Akponime Omojevwhe, who made the declaration during the August 2026 stakeholders engagement forum in Port Harcourt, said Emohua zone of TNP recorded no case of infraction or vandalism during the period under review.

The stakeholders forum was organised by the Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL), a pipeline surveillance firm responsible for the Eastern corridor of the TNP.

Omojevwhe appealed to host communities to sustain the partnership, noting that dependable national infrastructure translates directly into national income.

In his remarks, chairman of South-South Monarchs Forum (SSMF), Ohna Sergeant Awuse, said PINL’s engagement model had changed the terms of operation in the sector.

Awuse said: “Before now, we only hear stories of vandalism. But you have ensured safety of those pipelines.”

In his welcome address, PINL’s general manager, Community and Stakeholder Relations, Dr Akpos Mezeh said isolated cases of sabotage, attempted vandalism and equipment failure occurred during the period.

Mezeh however stated that rapid response teams restored affected facilities while security agencies arrested suspects linked to some incidents.

He said investment on the scale of the recently signed ECOWAS Heads of State intergovernmental agreement for the African Atlantic Gas Pipeline depends on lines that stay in service.

The PINL chief stated that collaboration with host communities, traditional rulers and security agencies has been one of the most critical factors in the corridor’s stability.
