Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, is among the top Nigerian government officials billed to represent Nigeria at the maiden Canada–Africa Summit on digital rails and inclusive growth scheduled for Toronto from 10 August to 15, 2026.

The summit, to be held under the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Economic Conference, NIDEC, will bring together governments, investors, multinational companies, development finance institutions and other global partners to explore strategic investment opportunities.

This was contained in a press statement issued on Sunday by the Spokesperson for the Zamfara Governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris.

According to the statement, the Presidency’s invitation to Governor Lawal noted that his participation would strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic and economic standing at the conference.

“The Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference is a leading global platform where governments, investors, multinational companies, development finance institutions, foundations, and partners form strategic partnerships and explore investment opportunities,” the statement said.

The Zamfara government said NIDEC is “more than just a diplomatic event” but a strategic economic mission to attract investment, technology transfer, development funding, and technical partnerships to drive the state’s economic transformation.

It added that Governor Lawal’s involvement will help position Zamfara State as Nigeria’s emerging hub for agribusiness, strategic minerals development, human capital growth, and digital innovation.
