Following his declaration as the winner of the Osun governorship election, Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed appreciation to God and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his re-election as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun State.

Adeleke, who spoke shortly after he was declared winner of the poll, said the people of the state had rewarded his administration for its commitment to delivering dividends of democracy in infrastructure, education, agriculture and other sectors.

Speaking in Ede, Adeleke said the outcome of the election was also an indication that the people of Osun appreciated the achievements recorded by his administration during his first term.

“This re-election is the people of Osun State saying, ‘Thank you, Mr Governor,’ for the work we have done,” he said.

The governor said his vision was to transform Osun from a civil service state into an industrial state while ensuring that development reached all parts of the state.

Adeleke also thanked President Tinubu for congratulating him and for what he described as his efforts to ensure that democracy thrives in the country.

“I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr President. Mr President has called me and congratulated me. Thank you, Mr President, for ensuring that democracy lives on, because you fought for it,” he said.

The governor, who adopted a conciliatory tone after the election, said there was no victor or vanquished, expressing optimism that his major challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, would accept the outcome.

“It is no victor, no vanquished. I am expecting the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to call me and congratulate me,” he said.

Adeleke won in 19 of the 30 local government areas in the state, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 local governments.
